I’m only writing this four stars because I didn’t work out of the box for me .

After reading great reviews, I chose these as my next barefoot sandals after Earth Runners. Unfortunately, they didn’t fit—not in size, but my heel hung off the instep. I reached out and got incredibly personalized help, including videos to adjust the straps, but nothing worked. The owner ended up building a custom piece for me, which still didn’t fit, so he made another one. That second custom piece finally worked, and now I’m loving the sandals!

I was initially expecting to deal with a week long struggle getting used to the straps, but these things felt great immediately and haven’t given me any comfort issues. I’m a few weeks in now with daily runs and treks through the rocky Texas hill country these things are unfazed by my abuse. I’m convinced and will be sticking with Toetem.

I own three pairs of Toetems and I love all of them. This review is for the Black Bear, though, which is my new daily walker, jogger, hiker, runner, and all the daddy things in between! Because it is customizable and adjustable for all shapes and sizes of feet. I have bunions and misshapen feet due to reconstructive surgery after an explosion in Iraq.
