My sandals were the last transition I needed to make to barefoot/wide toe box fit. I didn't ever feel like most of the adventure barefoot sandal options could compare to my rugged adventure sandals. But then I discovered Toetem and am so happy with my new sandals! They have been amazing for exploring. They are well made and fit securely; great for adventures!
I purchased a pair of OSEM sandals in brown Hemp with the Wild strap pattern. I'm quite impressed with the design and how they work. I bought during the presale, so there wasn't a lot of "product description" info, and I figured they'd be a good replacement for flip-flops.
The cool things I didn't realize are that the front strap is held on by some rather strong elastic material. This allows it to adjust to fit your foot. It also keeps it on rather securely without being too tight. AND, probably the coolest benefit is that it allows the sandal to move with your foot with no pinching or slipping.
The heel strap is adjustable with Velcro and has Toetem's stitching pattern that allows you to trim it if you desire. It stays in place well. And once it's adjusted how you want it, you don't need to open or change it. Simply slip the heel strap up and down to put the sandal on or take it off. The elastic of the front strap gives you enough play to have a rather secure setting and still be able to slide the heel on and off without opening the Velcro.
Footbed is Toetem's no-slip hemp. I haven't gotten these wet yet, but I had the same material on my Coyote's. My experience is that it works well wet or dry and it dries fast with a little sun or breeze. It's also easy to gently clean.
Both straps have a soft inner lining. The toe post is soft and can be folded or rolled between the toes. Between the footbed and straps, I find the whole sandal comfortable with no pressure points or rubbing.
Walkbase outsole should be plenty for walking in town or even around pools or areas that are wet. I'll take my Blackbears if I plan on hiking, but the OSEM's are going to be more than capable for everyday/casual/city/beach and much more.
