Bang for your buck since they last longer and are more robust than cheaper sandals!

I have tried a couple of the barefoot sandals. If you are going on this route its best to get the most bang for your buck. There are many who start off purchasing more affordable sandals and go on spending more money since they have to replace them more frequently or notice they are not as well made for their feet and then learn that it is best to just buy the higher end one. I know this sandal may not seem like the most bang for your buck since there are cheaper rivals out there, however, they are not as robust as these. You also have to take into consideration that this is a very small business by Ron and his wife and they have tweaked this model enough where they have hit a gold standard (just look up Andrew Folts, a respected barefoot shoe reviewer and see what he says). I am nowhere near Foltz' expertise level in this arena but I have been wearing Barefoot minimalist shoes since i was 19 y/o back in 2011). These sandals are creme de la creme. The thickness of the sole gives just enough cushiness to mold to your feet, the vibram materials used give enough rebound to mimic the elasticity of a healthy plantar fascia. Many sandals and footwear out there rob us of this elastic rebound we have because of the material they use that mute this vibrational energy/rebound. Think about handball and how it bounces, now think of a hacky sack ball. Our feet are naturally made to be more like a handball and the all-terrain sandal (which has been temporarily discontinued) and the frontier reintroduce this handball behavior to each running step we take. The brown hemp footbed is perfect since it adapts to different weather conditions - i have used it in the hot weather of the Caribbean and brisk chilly weather of New England USA. The brown hemp provides enough friction to keep our foot locked in but does not create hot spots on the bottom of our feet like rubber footbeds do. The toebox is wider than most, especially the EW sizes. This is a money saver since if you have been on this barefoot journey long enough you probably have learned that our feet will widen. The straps take a bit of getting used to and give them 1-2 days of use to break in, along with the sideposts. Once you get the technique of tightening the straps down packed you will understand why these are better equipped to handle the elements compared to others. I do think this is the only room for improvement that I am sure the Toetem family can consider: making the straps waterproof and sewing in more velcro material throughout the strap so that lower volume feet can be securely tightened. I will have to sew more velcro to get this to happen on my new frontier sandal. My All-terrain did not have this issue and it could have been since I went up a size on the Frontier from a Mens 11W to a 12EW. Hopefully this review can be helpful for any of those considering, we are lucky to have the craftsman/womanship of Toetem in the barefoot space, especially us folks with wider feet!
